The No Kings rally was a bigger success than I ever imagined! We had 500 people peacefully, joyfully protesting. The passing traffic was wildly enthusiastic. We couldn’t do it without Indivisible, the coalition, and others. We had people from all over Illinois and other states, as far away as Georgia.
There were 4 counter protesters. There were no clashes. Local & state police didn’t bother us, in contrast, they drove by and waved. And when someone fainted, the police, fire department and EMS responded quickly, professionally, and respectfully. The ill person was fine & got a ride home.

The McDonough County Democratic Central Committee Donates $1,000 to Loaves and Fishes to Help Combat Food Insecurity
Macomb, IL — The McDonough County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) has made a $1,000 donation to Loaves and Fishes, a trusted local organization working to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in McDonough County.
This contribution was inspired in part by the sharp rise in the cost of basic grocery items—particularly eggs, milk, and other staples—which continues to strain the budgets of many local families.
“This $1,000 donation represents one of the ways we are working to restore and improve the lives of people in our community,” said Beth E. Nelson, MCDCC treasurer. “In the face of rising food prices, we hope this gift brings meaningful relief to the families served by Loaves and Fishes.”
The MCDCC is proud to support local initiatives that promote compassion, dignity and opportunity for all members of the community.
