On Sept. 23, candidate for Governor Ameya Pawar spoke to a full house in Taylor Hall. Noting that Macomb is finishing a beautiful downtown renewal while being battered by cuts to the university and hospital, Pawar shared his vision for IL: emphasizing equity in education, criminal justice reform, and smart infrastructure investment.
Annual Fish & Chicken Fry
At our Fish & Chicken Fry on August 9, 2017 Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan explained how her office actually recovers about $1 billion annually for the State of IL in legal settlements, fines, and penalties. She also announced a $500,000 grant to improve law enforcement and legal response to sexual assaults in our 5 county area. Over 160 attendees at our new favorite venue, the VFW, also cheered when John Curtis announced his candidacy for the 93rd State Rep House seat In the 2018 elections.
John Curtis is running for representative of the 93rd district against incumbent Norine Hammond. John will be collecting signatures on his petitions beginning September 5.

Gov. Rauner recently signed into law automatic voter registration. Illinois is the tenth state to adopt automatic voter registration. Essentially, eligible voters will be automatically registered when they apply for a driver's license or state ID at the DMV or interact with any other state agency. They will have the right to opt out of registration if they so desire.
