John Curtis Campaign News
State Representative Candidate, John Curtis, turned in his petitions this week, taking another step towards making his candidacy official. John, campaign manager Mike Kohler and campaign volunteer, Wayne Slaughter, drove to Springfield Wednesday morning. The first stop was the Illinois State Democratic Party political headquarters where a lawyer carefully looked over and bound the petitions. The next stop was the state board of elections where John turned in petitions and signed and received paperwork. The campaign would like to thank everyone who signed petitions and helped collect signatures.
This next week, John will be doing a media tour in the district. He is scheduled for T.V., radio and newspaper interviews in Quincy, Galesburg and many points in between. John will be speaking at the Hancock County Democrats monthly meeting on Monday, a Democratic Candidate forum on Wednesday evening, and a campaign kickoff event in Galesburg at Globar on Main Street from 5 to 6:30 on Thursday.
In mid-November, Illinois Sunshine ranked the 93 rd District House Race the 9 th most expensive race in the state. The incumbent, Norine Hammond, already has well over $350,000 of special interest money in her campaign account. John will be working hard the rest of December to raise both the number of contributors (any amount helps!) and the money needed to run an effective, grass-roots campaign. The campaign’s goal is $100,000 by Christmas. You can send contributions to Friends of John Curtis, PO Box 304, Macomb IL 61455 or contribute online at electjohncurtis.com. John is confident that his campaign for state representative is going to win in 2018. He says that the people he talks to express a deep desire for new faces and new ways of doing things in Springfield and Washington D.C. He says that people in the district are also realizing that Republican leadership threatens the American Dream. It is time for regular, working people to stand up, get involved and take our government back.
